Cultural days Images du Monde Arabe (fifth edition)
Cultural days Images du Monde Arabe aim to improve understanding of Arab culture through the arts in Montreal public and change the often negative and stereotypical perceptions of the Arab world.
Under the theme ``Integration and Dynamic Cultures``, the fifth edition of Images du Monde Arabe offers Montrealers priviledged moments – trough cinema, visual arts and music – brought from various artistic and cultural currents from the Arab world. It will take place in three areas:
- Visual Arts: exhibition of paintings, sculptures and several openings with, amongst others, the painter Firas Al and sculptor Basry Tarik Marouf.
- Cinema: the celebration of the seventh art this year proposes to discover religion, light, love, memories, and often hidden or suppressed hopes and dreams. Also, because 1998 marks the 50th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, it seems essential to devote a special section to fifty years of Palestinian resistance.
- Music: several representations to the maison de la culture Côte-des-Neiges including, amongst others, Jamma Elfana.
