Centre for Democratic Communication (CDC)-South Africa
For years the community media activists in South Africa were busy conducting struggles and thereby to closely monitor public policy. The current environment is different and must develop a more open type of television to the community. Here, apartheid has left a legacy of injustice and any initiatives for development of a community television must ensure the balance first. We must develop human resources in radio and television, but also insure that people in the community sector swells the ranks of public and private sectors. Finally, it should also be a range of independent community television. That’s what the Center for Democratic Communications is trying to do.
