El Consejo Latinoamericano de Ciencias Sociales (CLACSO) is an international non-governmental organization, established in 1967 and maintains formal consultative relations with UNESCO. The Council's objectives are the promotion and development of research and social science teaching and strengthening exchange and cooperation between institutions and researchers inside and outside the region. Similarly, actively promotes the dissemination of knowledge produced by social scientists in social movements, mass organizations and civil society entities. Through these activities, CLACSO contributes to rethink, from a critical and multifaceted, the overall problem of Latin American and Caribbean societies.

El Observatorio Social de América Latina (OSAL) is a research program launched in 2000 to promote and disseminate materials for a critical analysis of Latin American capitalism, senior political, social and economic forms and that the conflict and social movements in the region.
