IMADR (Japan)

Founded in 1988 by members of the Buraku community in Japan, IMADR (International Movement Against All Forms of Discrimination and Racism) is an international human rights NGO devoted to eliminating racism and discrimination toward minorities. It mainly focuses on building a global network of concerned individuals and minority groups with regional committees and partners in Asia, Europe, North America and Latin America.

The NGO pursues three objectives:

  • promoting the capacities of minority groups;
  • fostering cooperation and solidarity among discriminated people in ways that rise above regional, national and gender differences;
  • creating international human rights instruments and promoting their effective use by the discriminated.
