Alternatives - Action and Communication Network for International Development is looking for a Research, writing and financing officer for a full-time position for 6 months with the possibility of extension.

POSITION SUMMARY :

The Research, Writing and Financing Officer's main task is the design, planning, drafting and submission of funding proposals based on Alternatives' strategic planning and the priorities of the various programs.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Ensures the overall development of the Alternatives program according to the organization's strategic plan;
  • Researches, writes and submits proposals for solicited or unsolicited projects for Canadian, Quebec, Montreal or European government programs or private foundations or other community actors;
  • Participates in the instances of Alternatives.

EXPECTED RESULTS :

  • A fully developed, funded program with a multiplier effect on Alternatives and its environment ;
  • Well developed, planned, funded and evaluated projects based on a close monitoring with partners on the ground and constant tracking of the priorities set by federal funding partners.

EDUCATION AND SKILLS :

  • Undergraduate degree in International Relations, Human Sciences or other related field.
  • Written and spoken proficiency in English and French, a third language an asset.
  • Very good knowledge of the social, political, economic, cultural realities of the developing countries.
  • Very good knowledge of the NGO community and international development institutions in Canada and Quebec.
  • Adherence to the values of Alternatives.
  • Basic software: Word, Excel, databases, Internet.

EXPERIENCE :

  • 3 to 5 years of professional experience in drafting projects in the field of international cooperation

COMPETENCIES :

  • Excellent writing skills in English and French.
  • Autonomy, ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with several partners from here and elsewhere.
  • Judgment, creativity, initiative, sense of organization, team spirit.
  • Ability in project management, planning and evaluation.
  • Ability to listen, negotiate and adapt quickly.
  • Availability, flexible schedules, ability to travel outside Canada.

 

Salary : According to the collective agreement.
