Africa Bank Mission

The African Development Bank has launched a consultation process with African NGOs and Bank members in order to facilitate and promote their collaboration. The goal was to improve the effectiveness of the African Development Bank loans throughout a deeper involvement of the civil society in terms of political programmes and field operations. A conference on the theme of consultation was held in Abidjan en December 1996.

Alternatives, in partnership with CIDA, has sent two representatives in Abidjan to take part in the conference in order to facilitate the participation of Canadian NGOs in the consultations between the African Development Bank and the international community of NGOs. The representatives have been responsible for informing the participants of the conference by providing them with the necessary material and a briefing. They then provided a detailed report available for all NGOs and concerned organizations.
