Caroline Gros, project officer in strategic development, represented Alternatives in Edmonton from November 20 to 22.<\/p>\n
She was there for the first annual national conference of the program “Enabling Change for Capacity Building and Knowledge Sharing for Small and Medium Organizations (SMOs)” on “Inclusive Governance: Meaningful Participation for Gender Equality”, related to the Feminist International Assistance Policy (FIP).<\/p>\n
Caroline presented at the panel on “Mainstreaming Gender Equality in Programmes”. She was able to discuss the example of our project in Honduras on the empowerment of women in the informal sector. It should be remembered that in Honduras there are many more women in poverty and without income than men, one of the worst rates of intentional murders of women (femicides), and an ineffective system of economic autonomy and decision-making autonomy that excludes women.<\/p>\n
