More than 100 organizations and social movements from all regions of the world (Africa, Middle East, Asia, Latin America, Canada, USA, Europe) participated. The meeting agreed on the importance of reviving the alter-globalization movement in the face of new challenges created by the rise of the right wing, the climate crisis, and the global pandemic.

The organizing committee confirmed an agreement with the Mexican government to hold the WSF in the downtown area of the capital, more precisely in the Zócalo. This is the central square in front of the presidential palace, also a historical and symbolic place, site of the ancient capital of the Aztec empire that the Spanish conquerors destroyed in their genocidal operation.

The WSF 2022 will be mainly in person, but also in hybrid mode. One of the main challenges will be to attract the new social movements that play a central role in the struggle against the capitalist model, especially the youth movements mobilized in the fight against climate change. Mobilizing organizations from Africa, Asia and the Middle East is another challenge, as well as reconnecting with social movements that have distanced themselves from the WSF in recent years (Via Campesina, World March of Women, and others).

Register now!

You can also register your organizations, activities or initiatives.

Information : wsf2022mx@wsf2022.org

As proposed by the Mexican Organizing Committee of the World Social Forum (WSF 2022), which includes more than 120 social organizations, the proposed date was discussed and validated with the expanded meeting of the WSF International Council on Saturday, November 27th.
