Faced with a wave of free-trade agreements dictated by the neoliberal world order, the spaces created within the framework of social forums sparked both national and international mobilizations to envision the possibilities of a different world. But in recent years, the foundation of these anti-systemic movements has weakened, the world has become locked in an endless war, and the genocide in Gaza has laid bare the collapse of international law.

Today, the shift toward authoritarianism and militarism in much of the world, coupled with the extreme rightward shift in our societies, portends even more catastrophic consequences for global justice movements, be they be around environment protection, feminist and transfeminist struggles, immigration, labor movements, or collective and individual rights.

Faced with the urgent need for action, organizations and activists from a dozen countries and their diasporas formed the transnational network Global Solidarity against Fascism (GSAF) in June 2025. One year later in the first week of June 2026, GSAF members will meet for the first time in Montreal to begin strategic planning aimed at preparing a transnational response to the rise of the disastrous and authoritarian right.

From June 1 to 5, we invite you to a series of events that will allow us to share our perspectives and analyses on the current global conjuncture and to forge new transnational bonds of solidarity against fascism.

– June 1 (7 PM, Montreal): You are invited to the screening of When the Tide Goes Out — a film that uncovers the persistent, yet hidden, patriarchy that overshadows the gentle power that fuels a labour struggle.
