The Amazigh culture

Tunisie

This video was shot in Sned Jbel, in southern Tunisia, on the border with Algeria. In collaboration with a local production and filming company in Gafsa, I took the opportunity during my stay to demonstrate part of the Amazigh culture.

The Amazigh are the indigenous people in Tunisia and do not have as much recognition as one would think in this country; they are neglected. Yet they have an attractive heritage and potential for tourism and, in return, could benefit from the support of the Ministry of Tourism in Tunisia to establish local projects. This video was made by a local communication company whose boss, now deceased, was of Amazigh origin.

The music has been selected according to a list of sounds specific to southern Tunisia. Access to the site was done with the help of a Gafsian guide who was very familiar with the area.
