Major social mobilizations have been taking place all over the world in recent years: the movements of the Places (Tahrir, Taksim), the Indignados, the Yellow Vests, as well as the wave of impressive uprisings in recent weeks, from Chile to Iraq via Algeria. All of them put forward the notion of dignity. It is therefore important to stop and reflect on this notion and what it means, including the unthought-of and the underlying and hidden conflicts. What does dignity mean in concrete terms for victims of structural and institutional racism? What is a “dignified life” for black existences, existences “put to death” of the excluded and depreciated?

In the context of our Annual General Meeting, Norman Ajari, an important thinker on race, will give a lecture to give us his analysis inspired by an Afro-decolonial approach.

What can decolonial thought and politics do today?
What are the changes in African and Afro-diasporic thinking about saying, thinking and representing race?
