Who are we?
A solidarity organization and a network of partners committed to supporting the voices of social movements
With its members, partners and allies, Alternatives aims to build a world :
- Where human beings live in dignity and respect and share equally the power and resources needed to live and thrive.
- Where the diversity of peoples and individuals is respected, along with their human, civil, political, economic, environmental, social and cultural rights.
- Where we work to improve the living conditions of the populations through a model of development that moves beyond the paradigm of growth and relies instead on social transformation and solidarity.
Mission
Alternatives is a solidarity organization that works to advance justice and economic, social, political, civil, cultural, and environmental rights in Quebec, across Canada and around the world.
We support citizen action and the autonomous contribution of popular and social movements in the construction of sustainable societies. Alternatives participates in local and international mobilizations to strengthen collective rights.
Our approach is grounded in the solidity of the partnership established with actors from the Global South and the North: a partnership based on solidarity, where reciprocity, collaboration, and shared action are central. Local actors are actively engaged in processes of social change, serving as both the origin and the driving force behind them. Alternatives carries out education and awareness initiatives rooted in a shared vision of social transformation, as an extension of all our action in international solidarity.
