Employment assistance for immigrants
Alternatives offers employment assistance services to immigrants and newcomers of all origins.
The objective of the services is to facilitate the transition to employment, to help understand the mechanisms, rules and functioning of the Quebec labour market, to allow the acquisition of work experience and to facilitate the accessibility and use of collective services in this field.
*** During this pandemic period, we inform participants of the employment assistance service subsidized by the Ministère du Travail, de l’Emploi et de la Solidarité sociale that all services are maintained and offered remotely.We invite you to communicate by email with the person in charge, Mrs. Khadija Mounib, leaving your phone number to contact you. We are available from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday by email khadijam@alternatives.ca. We will tell you the procedures to follow and provide you with the forms to fill out (Screening form).***
Personalized job search assistance in your field of training:
- Orientation and career development;Resume writing;
- Cover letter writing;
- Identification of job search leads;
- Job interview preparation and mock interviews.
Who are the services for?
Our program is offered in partnership with Emploi-Québec. Here are the eligibility criteria:
- Be a permanent resident of Canada for less than 5 years.
- Not be employed or studying full time.
- Not be registered with Emploi Québec.
- Live in Montreal.
Services are also available to accepted refugees. If you are an accepted refugee, you must have one of the following documents attesting to your status:
- A letter from the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) recognizing your status as a refuge or person in need of protection
OR - A letter from Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) recognizing your status as a protected person following a pre-removal risk assessment
Our services are free. They are offered in French and English.
