Association for Progressive Communication

South Africa

APC is both a network and an organization. APC members are groups and individuals who work in their own countries to advance APC’s mission.

APC’s mission is to empower and support organizations, social movements, and individuals through the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) to build communities and strategic initiatives, thereby contributing to equitable human development, social justice, participatory political processes, and environmental sustainability.

This mission is accomplished through five interrelated strategies: research, advocacy, networking and capacity building, communications, and awareness raising. APC influences discourse and analysis on Internet-related issues in order to integrate human rights norms and standards, gender equality, and feminist values into Internet and digital technology policy, governance, development, and practice. APC focuses on a wide range of rights, from civil and political rights to economic, social, cultural, and sexual rights as they relate to the internet and digital technologies.
