All Burma Students’ Democratic Front

The All Students’ Democratic Front was born with the intention to remove the military dictatorship and establish a democratic federal union in Burma in the wake of the 1988 popular democratic Uprising. The front aims are to work for the people from all walks of life in Burma regardless of race, religion or class.

Its objectives are:

  • to liberate all the peoples of Burma from the military dictatorship;
  • to achieve democracy and human rights;
  • to restore internal peace;
  • to forge genuine federal union.

The front’s activities include:

  • Regular intra-organisational meetings;
  • Mass education and mobilisation of the people of Burma;
  • Primary health care for local people in the areas where the ABSDF maintains bases;
  • Formal and non-formal education for local people in the areas where the ABSDF maintains bases;
  • Foreign affairs to gain the concrete support of governments, financial institutions, civil society, and people’s movements worldwide;
  • Documenting and disseminating reliable information to people inside Burma and internationally;
  • Promoting National reconciliation at grassroots level.
