Confédération des syndicats nationaux

The Audacity of the CSN

Since it’s founding in 1921, the Confederation of National Unions has been at the forefront of the discussion on social struggles and trade unions in Quebec. It is simply impossible to discuss the growth of trade unions in Quebec without at least mentioning the CSN.

Throughout its history, the CSN has sought to harmonize Quebec’s economic, social and environmental development. It aims to improve working conditions, create jobs, improve living conditions, and reduce socio-economic inequality for Quebecers.

CSN has spearheaded initiatives such as: la Caisse d’économie solidaire, Bâtirente, MCE Conseils, Fondaction, Filaction, Neuvaction et la Caisse d’économie Le Chaînon. This network of institutions aims at responding to a three-pronged challenge in Quebec: employment, democratizing the economy, and reducing personal debt.

CSN is committed to sustainable development that is socially responsible.
