Revista Mujeres (Cuba)

The first time a black and humble woman's smile lit up the cover of a Cuban magazine, it was 15 November l961 in the first issue of Mujeres. This image embodied the mission statement of a group who nationalized Vanidades magazine (the story of what is now Continental Vanidades) and the "American way of life" that it represented, and proposed, based on journalism ethics and revolution, and for women, to confront the reality of Cuban women and assist in communication and social ideas of equal rights and opportunities between men and women.
