Internship Opportunity

Location: Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina

Host organisation: One World Platform

One World Platform is a registered organization in Bosnia and Herzegovina whose goal is: "an active and effective online community for a South Eastern Europe unified in its efforts to accelerate democratic developments and positive changes in the civil societies of the region, through interactive platforms and cooperation at the local, national, regional and international levels. "

Required skills: The candidate must have a technical diploma or university degree in a field related to journalism, media, communication, ICT or any other relevant training. He or she must speak English and have good writing skills.


Strengthen the strategic communication of One World Platform, based on the results of year 1 and the work done by One World Platform:

• Become familiar with the various issues of the organization and highlight the strengths and weaknesses of current strategies.

• Participate in strengthening the One World Platform communication plan, especially with respect to the  Women Rights Program.

• Contribute to strategic thinking to strengthen the presence of the organization on social media and the web.

• Meet with key One World Platform allies and partners to develop common strategies.

• Develop notes, policies, frameworks, commitments on topics related to advocacy work.

• Produce text and creatively contribute to  ongoing campaigns, for the One World Platform website and blogs (national and international audience).

• Organize training of trainers on different communication techniques, according to the needs identified before the internship period.

• Evaluate and document the work done.


Other prerequisites: All trainees must complete the training program before their stay abroad. Alternatives will cover the travel and accommodation costs of interns living outside of the Montreal area.

Length of stay abroad: 6 months

Pre-departure training: July 2019

Expected date of departure: August 2019


To be eligible for the International Youth Internship Program (IYIP), the candidate must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident;
  • Have a post-secondary diploma and have obtained a degree or diploma from a university, college, post-secondary technology school, post-secondary institute or CEGEP (general education college and professional in Quebec);
  • Be between the ages of 19 to 30 when the final selection is made (when the contracts between the trainee and Alternatives are signed);
  • Have never participated in the IYIP.
