JOB OPENING:           Mobilization and Outreach Coordinator


Alternatives is looking for a mobilization and outreach coordinator for a temporary contract between March 3rd and August 29, 2014.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the General Director, the mobilization and outreach coordinator will be mandated to organize events aiming to mobilize members and sympathizers of Alternatives.

Description of responsabilities

-             Ensure the development, undertaking, follow-up and evaluation of activities such as the Solidarities Festival and/or others;

-             Ensure the mobilization of the public in general as well as specific individuals during these activities;

-             Maintain and create links with partner social organizations in Québec and Canada;

-              Prepare and submit financial propositions

-              Contribute to public relations with the media and other actors during these events;

-              Participate in team meetings;

-              Any other related task assigned by the General Director.


Experience and Education:

-               Bachelor's degree in social sciences, communications or related domains.

-               Computer skills : basic software and Internet. Knowledge of graphics programs or multimedia tools an asset.

-               Fluent French and English. Knowledge of another language an asset, particularly Spanish.

-                Good understanding of social, economic, cultural and historic issues in Québec and Canada, as well as world news and issues related to international solidarity;

-                Pertinent experience in planning and organization of educational events or events in the public interest;

-                Significant experience in fundraising and grant writing.

-              Capable of working in networks and with coalitions;

-               Availablity, flexible schedule;

-               Autonomy, capable of working well under pressure;

-               Good judgement, problem-solving, initiative, organizational sense, 'a team player';

-               Good oral and written communication.


Start date : March 3rd 2014, Length : 6 months
