We invite any person of immigrant background or belonging to a so-called ethnic or visible minority who has experienced racism in the Quebec workplace to fill out this questionnaire anonymously and confidentially in order to document this reality and thus better equip public authorities in the implementation of measures to fight systemic discrimination.
Here is the questionnaire.
Here is the invitation from OIRQ:
If you are an immigrant or racialized person, 18 years of age or older and reside in Quebec, the Observatory of Racial Inequalities in Quebec invites you to fill out this questionnaire to survey the experiences and perceptions of people like you who have been victims of employment discrimination. The purpose of this study is to raise awareness among public authorities about the experiences of discrimination of immigrant and racialized populations in Quebec and to find appropriate solutions. Please be assured that this survey will not collect any personal information that could identify you.
This questionnaire allows us to explore how people who experience racial discrimination in employment describe their experiences, what their knowledge of the law and their rights is, and to identify the social representations and stereotypes that may give rise to racial discrimination and socioeconomic inequality. This approach is intended to highlight the fact that personal experiences and subjective perceptions are shared by many people, pointing to the systemic nature of discrimination in our society.
Vissého Adjiwanou and Victor Armony, professors in the Department of Sociology at UQAM, are the scientific leaders of this project developed with Alternatives, thanks to a grant from Canadian Heritage, to study racial discrimination in employment in Quebec.
